Grand Street Alum helps High School win the Long Island Championship
Coach Sorensen’s input gives Floyd the
edge to win its first Championship
The
Floyd football team won its first Long Island Class I championship with
a 34-27 victory over Baldwin on Nov. 26. In addition, the Colonials huddled
around the Rutgers Trophy, another first in school history.
Floyd has been to the big show a number
of times but always came up just short of the prize. That was until Long
Island born-Brooklyn trained linebacker coach Eric Sorensen showed up
on the scene. Sorensen provided a fire that raised the level of intensity
The Colonials desperately needed to bring them over the top.
Sorensen
was the Defensive Coordinator at Grand Street from 2000-2004. Under Eric’s
tutelage, The Wolves quickly became known as one of the most dominating
defenses in the city. It was at Grand Street that Sorensen developed
his coaching philosophy and knowledge of the game.
Grand Street congratulates Coach Sorensen and The William Floyd Colonials on
a job well done.
